Rodmatic Limited has created a specialist sector office in Glasgow to represent its expanding subcontract machining business in the oil and gas industry and to provide a direct support service to Scotland and the North of England. The extension to the Reading based machining operations of Rodmatic Multico, the higher volume production machining facility and Rodmatic Hytek the small to medium batch capability using the latest CNC technology, is to be run by James Eadie, appointed as Business Development Manager who brings some 15 years experience in the sector.
Says Brian Steatham, chairman of Rodmatic Limited: “To service this sector you need local customer support, but most important to have in-depth knowledge of the industry and to be able to co-ordinate our production expertise with customer requirements.”

James Eadie, who is 46, has a background in fluid control systems and the provision of mechanical, electrical and instrumental service operations to offshore companies. His expertise also includes ‘deep hole’ tooling, oil rig pumps, valves and actuation devices, as well as supply of service equipment. To which he adds: “The reputation of Rodmatic in maintaining on-time delivery and its pro-active approach to invest in advanced production equipment to service special contract requirements, will be an important asset.”
In addition, he maintains: “The in-house CAD to CAM and in-depth production experience that provides a design for manufacture consultancy across volume and smaller batch work will be ideal for producing bespoke components for this sector.”
